Global Learning Medallion Reflection

Throughout my academic journey at Florida International University, I have been exposed to diverse global learning experiences that have significantly shaped my perspective on international business, cultural understanding, and global responsibility. Through coursework, study abroad programs, and personal experiences, I have developed a deeper understanding of how interconnected our world truly is.

Global Perspective
My experiences have strengthened my ability to recognize and evaluate different cultural assumptions, beliefs, and values when approaching complex situations. Participating in study abroad programs in Dubai and Thailand, as well as my research experience in Japan through the SEED Program, exposed me to distinct cultural norms and business practices. These experiences challenged my initial assumptions and forced me to adapt my thinking when interacting with individuals from different backgrounds. I learned that what may be considered efficient or appropriate in one culture may not be perceived the same way in another. This has made me more open-minded and capable of analyzing problems from multiple perspectives, which is essential in global business environments.

Global Awareness
Through my academic coursework and international experiences, I developed a strong understanding of how local and global issues are interconnected. For example, studying different economic systems, regulatory environments, and cultural influences in countries such as the United Arab Emirates and Thailand allowed me to see how globalization impacts business decisions. I also became aware of how political, social, and economic factors influence international markets. These experiences helped me understand that decisions made in one part of the world can have significant effects elsewhere, reinforcing the importance of being informed and globally aware in today’s business landscape.

Global Engagement
My global learning experiences have increased my willingness and ability to actively engage in intercultural environments. Living and studying in different countries required me to step outside of my comfort zone and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds. I became more confident in building relationships, collaborating across cultures, and adapting to unfamiliar environments. These experiences not only improved my interpersonal and communication skills but also strengthened my ability to work effectively in international and multicultural teams.

Future Application and Personal Call to Action
These global learning experiences will play a fundamental role in my personal, academic, and professional future. I plan to build a career in international business, I intend to apply the cultural awareness, adaptability, and global mindset I have developed. Moving forward, I am committed to continuously seeking opportunities that involve international collaboration and cross-cultural engagement. I will actively challenge myself to remain open-minded, stay informed about global issues, and contribute to environments that value diversity and inclusion.

This reflection serves as a commitment to continue growing as a globally engaged individual and to use my experiences to create meaningful impact in both my professional career and the broader global community.
